News from the Farm - November 03, 2011
JAH'S CREATION Organic Farm is now becoming a household name in Southeastern New Jersey. The small farm, run by Matthew Bruckler III, has been seeing tremendous growth over the past 4 years. This is, in part, due to our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program which was started with 20 members in 2008. Currently at 170 CSA members and expectations to hit 500 members before 2014, seasonal shares must be secured in advance.
In anticipation of another busy season, Matt will be working with Cookie Till of Steve and Cookie's Restaurant by the Bay in Margate, NJ on special dinner events. The dinners will be scheduled throughout the fall and early winter months, with the first dinner being held on November 13, 2011 at 5:30 PM. Other dates will be announced soon.
The dinner events will be set into a round table discussion group of no more than 20 people. Current CSA members and those interested in joining our vastly growing CSA group are invited to sit down with Matt and discuss the 2012 season. At the dinners we will discuss things like what crops our CSA members would like to see more or less of and what crops can be expected throughout our local growing seasons.
The dinner events will book rather fast, so they must be booked on a first come/first serve basis. Please be patient and understand that we will have enough dinners that everyone can sit down and have a very nice, personal experience with Matt. The dinners will cost $25.00 per person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit "A Work in Progress Foundation" which focuses on getting children into the garden and into the kitchen- having fun while learning with the goal of seeing a decrease in the prevalent food related illness that are clogging our healthcare system and plaguing society as well as connecting to and respecting the planet.
You must call Steve and Cookies Restaurant (609 823-1163) to reserve your spot at these events, not JAH'S CREATION. Please be sure to mention that you are attending the JAH'S CREATION dinner party. The Reservation deadline for our November 13, 2011 dinner will be November 6, 2011.
Not only has Matt been busy in the fields growing produce for his 170 member CSA. He has also been providing some farm tours, participating in twilight meetings and dinner parties, doing outreach in schools, and participating in Farmers Markets and Eco-Friendly Festivals.
